Introduction

Welcome to my Central Asia 2009 web page!

Here you will find photos and notes from a 6 week moutaineering expedition to Central Asia that I did in June-July 2009. The trip comprised two separate expeditions. The first was a trip I did alone into Tajikistan where I spent nearly 2 weeks trekking and climbing in the Fann Mountains in the west of the country. This provided valuable fitness and acclimatization for the second trip, an ascent of Peak Lenin in Kyrgyzstan with a group from World Expeditions. At 7134m, Peak Lenin is the 3rd highest mountain in the former Soviet Union.
